The Demo Derby allows local talent to submit their unique artistic compositions to be judged by industry professionals. Our staff will create an evaluation form for the judges to use as a guide for their critiquing. They will listen to and observe one-minute clips submitted by artists to be assessed based on the criteria provided. After the evaluation forms are completed, they give verbal feedback to the artists.
How to Enter:
Present a one-minute sample of a song that best represents the artist.Cost
$5 Submission Fee can be handed in upon arrival on the day of the Demo Derby. Please arrive 30 minutes before the Demo Derby commences. This fee Includes the one-minute sample, attendance for two band personnel, and the judges' critique sheet.Judges
James Linderman

James Linderman teaches guitar, piano and music theory and coaches songwriting, in studio and over Skype to students from all over the world from Newmarket, Ontario.
He is a member of an international, off campus, academic advisory board for The Berklee School of Music in Boston known as Berkleemusic Ambassadors and is Berklee’s Worship Music Advisor.
James has had 4 top 10 singles on Canadian Christian radio and songs published in Nashville.
He is a guest presenter at music conferences all over Canada and also teaches guitar at Canada Christian College. James has a Canadian University (York) and American College (EOSC) education in music theory, composition, and journalism.

Dan Hand
Dan got his start in the industry as an intern for independent record label Underground Operations while attending Durham Colleges Music Business Management program. Upon graduation, UO promptly hired Dan for both the label and management. Occasionally tour managing label acts such as Protest The Hero & The Artist Life, he focused on marketing/grant writing and day-to-day artist management.
In 2011, Universal Music Canada decided to expand it's A&R roster, and hired Dan as an A&R rep. Working A&R for such artists as Abandon All Ships, Arkells, Silverstein, & more, he balanced his time between UMC A&R and artist management. In February 2012, he left UMC to focus on artist management & explore other avenues of the music business. He currently is the general manager for Underground Operations, and artist manager of Toronto hardcore act Abandon All Ships & Toronto singer songwriter, Rob Moir.
Mitch Masters
Mitch Masters is the A&R director of Track Avenue Music and the day-to-day manager for BRENDN. His education includes a background in marketing and studied Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College. Mitch’s background/experience includes management, bookings, promotions, DJing, and tour coordinator. In 2011, Mitch along with a couple other industry professionals’ help create the CampStock tour. It is a summer tour that helps bands experience what life is like on the road and they get to play in front of a guaranteed audience.Eric Alper
